Jolie Egert Elan, M.S.

 Jolie Elan is the Founder and Director of Go Wild Institute. She is a deep ecologist, ethnobotanist, herbalist, and educator.  She has inspired thousands of people to deepen their relationship with nature.  Jolie has worked with ethnobotanical projects on four continents including restoring sacred forest groves in India and developing the herbal medicine sector in war torn Kosovo.  Jolie is a certified forester and permaculture designer.  Jolie received her B.A. from the Evergreen State College in Environmental Studies and her Master’s degree in Natural Resources from Humboldt State University. 

Jolie has been studying herbal medicine for over 25 years. Some of her teachers include Matthew Wood, Native Healer Bobby Lake Thom (A.K.A Medicine Grizzly Bear), 7Song, and Jane Bothwell. She regularly teaches at nature centers, ecoliteracy programs, colleges, field institutes, and herbal medicine schools throughout the West. 

Jolie is a certified spiritual Director by the Chaplaincy Institute and is excited to offer nature-based spiritual mentorship to her students, which  can help increase intimacy with the Divine through nature.   Jolie is blessed with a deep and rich dream life and regularly communicates with our living Earth through dreams. She recently moved to Southern Oregon and is overjoyed to be here. Jolie can often be found foraging wild foods and medicines and hanging out with oak trees.
